Ho Ho Home Gift Ideas

Hi guys!

Can you believe that we’re just days away from Christmas?! I know that we say it every year, but this year really did go by quickly. Holiday shopping and holiday parties are in full effect! If you’re attending an event at someone’s home you may want to grab them a little hostess/host gift even if you’re not exchanging Christmas gifts. Or maybe you have a friend that is into home decor. Whatever the reason here are some fun home decor gift ideas.

Candles are a classic go to idea for a hostess/host gift. One of my favorites is the Voluspa Prosecco Rose

It contains notes of sparkling pink prosecco and rose petals. And will add a lovely fragrance to the home without being overwhelming.

Even though it’s winter there are some (like me) that drink iced coffee year round. That’s why I’m so in love with my Cold Brew Coffee Maker
from Zulay Kitchen. I can prep the brewer when I get home from work and the next morning I have iced coffee. And because there’s no actual ice required I don’t have to worry about it getting watered down if things are hectic at work and I can’t drink it right away.

For those that love espresso try the Sweese Porcelain Fluted Espresso Mugs Not only are they beautiful espresso mugs but I also like to use them to make dessert shots. A little ice cream or pudding topped with a cookie or fruit and you’re good to go.

Speaking of kitchen items Magnolia Table: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering by Joanna Gaines is an amazing gift for anyone into cooking. It’s available in hardcover as well as a Kindle version.

Another lovely home gift idea is a cheese board. I just got the
Good Cook Bamboo Cutting Board and I love it. It’s sold as a cutting board but so far I’ve been using it to serve my charcuterie.

If you want to give something a bit more personal then consider something handmade. Chunky hand knit blankets are a popular item that can be made in a few hours. You can grab some Super chunky yarn and knit away while you binge on Netflix. There’s not tools needed besides your hands and they’re really easy to make.

The other great thing about this list is that all of the items are available on Amazon. So you don’t even have to stand in a line or deal with crowds. So toss a few of these items in your cart and relax with some cocoa.

Dear Santa, I've Been Good

Hi guys!

I hope that you all had an amazing Thanksgiving!
I’ve had so much going on over the last couple of weeks that I haven’t had a chance to chat with all of you. I finally have a moment to sit down with some eggnog and catch up.

Speaking of a lot going on, this time of year most of us are busy doing a lot more running around. It’s important that we don’t forget to take a moment for ourselves. Whether that be a long relaxing bath, a cup of tea, a beauty routine, or shopping. I’ve decided to share with all of you a few of my favorite beauty items. These items will either make a perfect gift for someone on your list or a treat for yourself.

My Drybar Besties

Blown Away
I’ve tried a lot of hot tools for my hair. A LOT! And hands down two of my favorites are the Drybar Buttercup Blow Dryer and 3-Day Bender Curling Iron   from Drybar. Even when I use them at the highest temperatures (bad I know) my hair doesn’t get damaged. They come in the company’s signature Buttercup Yellow and have both leave my hair shiny and silky.

Best Tweezers Ever

Plucky Lady
So FYI, all tweezers are NOT created equal! I’ve had tweezers go dull. I’ve had tweezers stop working/lose their grip. And I’ve had tweezers go wonky after a drop or two…or five. Knock on wood my Tweezerman For Laura Mercier  tweezers are still going strong for the last seven (!) years that I’ve had them. Wow, I hadn’t realized that I’d had them that long! Now I love them even more!

100% Human 100% Fun

Hair She Goes
I’ve made it no secret over the years that I wear extensions. My biggest concern when wearing extensions is that they look realistic. For the last year my go to choice has been Indique Hair Extensions They’re 100% human hair and come in a variety of textures and lengths. The extensions can be colored by your stylist for an exact match. And they have some options that are already colored. The hair is available for microlinks, braidless sew-ins, and sew-ins. They also make clip-ins and v-tips. They have locations throughout the country and are available online as well.

The World of Atelier

Sweetie Pie
A few years ago I was introduced to Atelier Colognes and it’s been a magical ride since that moment. I actually do a custom blend of two of their fragrances Vanille Insensee and Orange Sanguine That combination reminds me of orange creamsicles which is one of my all time favorite smells. And with these fragrances a little goes a very long way, so only a touch of each is needed.

All of these items will make a nice gift this season. Especially if it’s a gift for yourself!

Fabulous Thanksgiving Table Decor Inspiration

We’re a week away from Thanksgiving. Which means that everyone is thinking about food, food, and more food. I wanted to take a moment to focus on where you’ll be enjoying that delicious meal.

Buffalo Check is huge right now. Those in the know in the home decor community are finding ways to incorporate it in their fall and holiday decor. Like Michelle (IG: @houseoftransformation). She shows us that a black & white tablescape will go lovely in any type of home. Whether your style is farmhouse, glam, or somewhere in the middle.

Another favorite of decor lovers is neutrals. Jenna (IG: @fabulous_farmhouse_designs) blends neutrals with a soft pop of color so that your table isn’t overwhelming, yet gets attention. The addition of a pastel or muted color is a great way to take your place settings to the next level.

Alicia (IG: @smalltownnest) selected a unique option for her centerpiece. The beautifully arranged wooden toolbox will make your table stand out for all of the right reasons. Not only is this a great option for a dining centerpiece, but this would also be lovely to add to your living room or bedroom.

Sometimes the holidays are spent away from your family. If you’re lucky you have a circle of friends that have become your family. And that is worth celebrating. This tablescape by Ashlee (IG: @sweetsouthernoaks) celebrates your Frimaly. The Friendsgiving decor and twinkling lights make everyone feel at home and welcome.

As mentioned earlier Buffalo Check is what all the cool decor kids are doing right now. Angela (IG: @thefrugalredhead) added her own touch to that with a deep teal tone. Incorporating it in her place settings and centerpiece. The jewel tones offer a nice warm feeling to your meal.

Thanksgiving is the unofficial end of Pumpkin Season. Amber (IG: @trendifarmgirl) gives pumpkins a beautiful send off. Using various tones gives you a palette that is a gorgeous ode to fall. It also prevents your tablescape from being to monotone. With an outside setting such as this one the pumpkins also help to keep things grounded if your Thanksgiving is a windy one.

Astra (IG: @redbrickfauxfarmhouse) also gave her table the unique spin of using a wood toolbox. She altered hers slightly by using vintage glass bottles for her florals. The pop of coral tones work beautifully with the splashes of coral along her table runner. Brightening up your dining experience.

Family, thankfulness, and food are what we usually focus on when it comes to Thanksgiving. A lovely backdrop for all of that can start with your dining room table.

Hey Pumpkin!

I’ve always been a sweet potato pie kind of girl. I used to (and still do) wait anxiously for the holidays because I knew that it meant SPP was coming. Then a few years ago a friend introduced me to pumpkin pie. And while SPP is still my number one holiday dessert, pumpkin pie has joined the list of my faves. Here’s a quick and easy recipe to try this holiday season.

INGREDIENTS
1 15-ounce can pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup light brown sugar3 large eggs lightly beaten
1 1/4 cups evaporated milk
1 9-inch deep-dish pie shell
Whipped cream

Combine cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, salt, cloves, and sugar in a large bowl. In a small bowl beat eggs. Add eggs to the mixture. Add pumpkin, making sure to blend well. Slowly add milk. Once mixture is well blended carefully pour into pie shell.

Bake for 10 minutes in preheated oven at 425 degrees. Lower temperature to 350 degrees and continue bake for 40 to 55 minutes, or until fork inserted in center comes out clean.

When the pie is removed from the oven allow it to cool for about 2 – 2 1/2 hours.

Serve room temperature or place in the refrigerator to chill.

When ready to serve top with whipped cream.

Baking Tips:

I prefer to bake mine on the lower oven rack. It will still cook fine on a top rack, but I find that I like the results a bit more personally.

If you find that the edges get too dark you can cover them with aluminum foil, or pie crust shields.
